What exactly is true beauty? Movies, TV, and popular girls on social media tempt us to believe that beauty is a gorgeous face, perfect hair and a certain weight. Actresses trick us into believing that we have to look flawless 24/7. (Even when just waking up. Seriously?) And while these things may make a girl pretty, true beauty is found in a woman who loves Jesus.
God's definition of beauty is so much better than anything the world has to offer! True beauty is not determined by something as temporary as our looks, but rather by what's in our heart. If you've trusted in Jesus to save you and you're living for Him every day, you have a dazzling, eye-catching beauty that will never fade away! And the more you look like Christ, the more beautiful you become.
Did you know that Jesus wasn't physically attractive? The good-looking Jesus' that we see in movies and TV shows aren't accurate at all! Isaiah 53:2b says, "He had no special beauty or form to make us notice Him; there was nothing in His appearance to make us desire Him." What attracted people to Jesus was His message, His kindness and His love. He is the ultimate example of true beauty!
Our beauty also grows when we share the love of Christ with others. Romans 10:14-15 says, "But before people can ask the Lord for help, they must believe in Him; and before they can believe in Him, they must hear about Him; and for them to hear about the Lord, someone must tell them; and before someone can go and tell them, that person must be sent. It is written, 'How beautiful is the person who comes to bring good news.' "
And guess what? Your true beauty starts in your heart, but the radiance of Christ shines on the outside, too! No matter what the kids at school say, no matter what Hollywood tries to make you believe, you are fearfully and wonderfully made by Almighty God. He created the towering mountains, the deep blue oceans, the rainbows, the waterfalls and the delicate roses. More importantly than all those things, He carefully handcrafted YOU. And God doesn't make mistakes!
