Everyone has a wish. At least one. I have many. Some that may never come true and some that I just haven't made happen yet. I decided it was time to write the less ridiculous wishes down and see how many I could complete. I encourage you to do the same.
I came up with five big wishes that I would love to say I accomplished:
1. To have a hope chest
This has been a lifelong dream of mine. I wish I had someplace to put things that I'm saving for when I get married. Silly things like notes or journal entries I want him to read, songs I wrote for him, and wish lists of things I want us to do. Also the not so silly things like house wear items and kitchen supplies that I want to save for when I have my own home.
To make this wish come true I decided that whenever I go thrifting I would look at furniture. Maybe one day I'll find the perfect chest.
2. To go on a missions trip
This is also a dream that's been brewing in my heart for a while now. Like so many young people out there, I want to DO SOMETHING BIG. To me there is not much bigger than going to a place in need, helping them, and being able to share the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ! Now this is the silly part! My dad works for a missionary sending organization! And I've never even thought of seeing what kind of programs they have!
To make this wish come true, I'm going to find a program that sends youth out to the field for a short-term mission's trip. Hopefully I can make this come true soon!
3. To start a girls' Bible study
This is a recent dream for me. I want to start to have fellowship with other Christian girls in my area. I want to get together with them and talk about Jesus! I don't really know how to start this though, because I don't really have any Christian girlfriends around me. I do, however, have a new church that I've started going to. There must be some girls who desire the same thing there!
To make this wish come true, I am going to ask the Pastor if I can start a weekly girls' Bible study at my house. Hopefully he will say yes!
4. To complete an entire Word of Life Quiet Time book
To those of you who are familiar with Word of Life, you'll understand what I'm talking about. To those of you who are not, Word of Life is a Bible college based in New York. They have a Daily Quiet Time book filled with devotionals for each day of the year. It is used mainly for staff and students, but is available to just about anyone. I have started many of them but never seem to get all the way through without getting distracted or just giving up.
To make this wish come true, I'm going to buy a new Quiet Time and make a commitment to finish it this year.
5. To thrift, fix, and sell furniture
This is also a new dream for me. I love fixing things. It's so fun to look at something I fixed and know that I had a part in bringing it back to life. I also love to paint. And thrift. With all of these things combined I think it would be so fun to get something cheap from a thrift store, fix and paint it up, then turn it around and either sell it or give it to a friend.
To make this wish come true, I am going to thrift for an awesome piece of furniture, fix it up, and either sell it or give it as a gift.
You don't always need a "bibbity bobbity boo" to make your wishes come true. A lot of them you'll find you can do yourself! So grab a notebook and a pen and get writing!
Comment below and tell me something you've always wished about doing!
